Die Cutting of an EPDM Diaphragm for the Nanotechnology Industry

When a client in the nanotechnology industry needed a custom die cut diaphragm that would be heat, ozone, and weather resistant, they knew that we would be able to fabricate exactly what they needed. Our experienced staff assisted in the development of  a prototype and established an efficient production process for this project. The diaphragm was made from black 60 durometer EPDM and was flash and die cut into a less than 10" disc, 1/8" thick, with over 800 precise slits in a uniform pattern.  Providing electrical insulation as well as environmental resistances, this diaphragm was suitable for temperatures in the -50 to 150 °C range. For this project we worked to tightest tolerances of ± .01" to ±.005". The production run of 1,300 units was produced and delivered to the customer's facility in 30 days.
